The first global symposium on health research ends today, here in Montreux. 1200 participants attended the event, and four days of extensive discussions and presentations with hundreds of graphs and thousands of data. We also had the final dinner in the casino and a lavish lunch every day. It was really a mega-event of the people who set the global public health agenda. During the symposium there was less talk about HIV/Aids , malaria and TB. There was even a talk about diverting resources from the global fund to other areas. This fatigue among the scientific community may leave millions of people who are living with disease without hope for the future.
