The Medical Research Council, South Africa’s premier organisation for undertaking and funding medical research, is seeking to appoint individuals to fill the following positions. It is seeking internationally recognised leaders for dynamic teams of researchers engaged in programmes of knowledge generation that will impact substantially on health policy, innovation, services and other interventions.

Unit Director:
Health Systems Research Unit

The role of the Unit Director is to provide: • Strategic scientific leadership – evidenced by the number and impact of the Unit’s peer-reviewed journal publications, research funding generated, impact of research on health policy and other outputs • Administrative leadership • Leadership through personal scientific achievements – evidenced by a personal track record in publications and fundraising, and supervising postgraduate students.
The ideal applicant will need: • A PhD • Evidence of international recognition in the field • Management experience • A track record of high impact publications and fundraising.
Unit Director: Non-communicable
Diseases Research Unit

Cost-to-company remuneration packages in the region of R1 000 000 per annum will be negotiated in accordance with qualifications and experience.
